Baking Your Make-Up

If you stalk Instagram like me then you would have seen the term 'baking' and watched the wonderful videos of the process; but what does it actually mean?

Baking your make-up is a term used for applying a loose powder to the your skin directly over foundation and letting it 'bake' into your skin for a period of time before blending in to achieve a longer lasting brightening effect. Typically 'baking' is done as a contour effect using
 and lighter powder.

This technique has been around for some time within the beauty world but with the power of Instagram and the contouring trend not fading soon its now more mainstream.

How to:
1) Apply your foundation and concealer
2) Using a damp sponge or contour brush apply a generous layer to areas of your face you wish to brighten such as under eyes, jaw and nose
3) Leave powder to 'Bake' into your skin for 5 - 10 minutes
4) Using a fluffy brush dust off excess and blend edges

Tip:

Save for evening occasions

This trend is not for everyday as can be very heavy and if you are not careful will show every line under your eye area!
For lighter baking only leave for a few minutes to set your foundation.

We would love to see you baking

The Ultimate Glamour Bible

Your Beauty Mark

By Dita Von Teese

Dita Von Tesse is my depiction of true beauty with her signature blue/black hair, pale skin, cat eyeliner and red lips. Her look is not just for show its a way of life and for most of us the effort required to look this good would be too much but for Dita it's no more effort than it is for us to put on a pair of jeans and scoop our hair into a high bun.

'Your Beauty Mark' by Dita Von Teese is my first beauty book purchase in years and I absolutely love it. Throughout the book she details the secrets of her lifestyle and gives step by step guides as to how she creates her signature looks as well as fitness, fashion, information and tips.

Even on my very best day I'm pretty sure I couldn't live up to Dita on her 'Casual day' but this book makes me want to try.

If you are interested in eclectic glamour or just intrigued into the lifestyle of a 'burlesque superheroine' (Vanity Fair) then you'll love this book.

My favourite quote so far is her reference to nude lipsticks;

"As nearly naked as you can catch me in the act onstage, I'm am not about to pucker up in a lip shade formulated to look natural"

This book is available in Waterstones priced at £25

Shine this winter with a pair of Superga 2750 Cotmetu

As much as I love wearing heels a comfortable pair of flats is always appealing and the Superga 2750 Cotmetu doesn't disappoint. They cost £55 and are available in 6 metallic tones, silver, rose gold, bronze, grey, grey/black and gold.

The sole is thick rubber so should prove to be hard wearing and good in wet weather. They are very comfortable to wear but I would recommend trying a size smaller as I'm usually an 8 but the 7 fitted perfectly.

Add a touch of glamour to your to outfit whilst still being practical with these beautiful shoes. I have my eye on the rose gold pair next!!!
